KSEV takes on new voice
August 2007 - Houston, Texas) AM 700 KSEV The Voice and The
Examiner Newspaper Group jointly announced that David Falloure's nostalgia
column, "Back in the day" will take to the airwaves. An agreement was
signed this month to adapt Falloure's column into a self-contained 60-second
module to be aired throughout the broadcast day.
"Back in the Day" appears bi-weekly and is featured on the
Examiner Newspaper Group's website. Since its initial run in a June 2006 issue
of the Bellaire Examiner, Falloure's column has grown in popularity with the
other three Examiner editions picking it up, along with the Fort Bend Sun and
Katy Sun.
"This is an exciting opportunity to bring something
different to our radio audience," says Keith Cohn of KSEV. "They are
parents and grandparents who will connect with this lighthearted, often
touching, always thought-provoking look into how the world and parenting have
changed."
Liz Selig, Director of Marketing for Houston Community
Newspapers which owns the Examiner Newspaper Group agrees. "Falloure's
own, unique "voice" resonates with our readers because so many of
them grew up in the '60s and '70s. They identify with his perspective of a
hands-on, modern parent."
While the details of the adaptation are still being worked
out, the launch for the capsules is slated for September. "These will be very
pithy," Falloure says of the capsules, adding, "The challenge will be in
compacting whatÕs normally a 6 to 700 word essay into 50-seconds." The
remaining 10-seconds of each 1-minute capsule is reserved for cross-marketing
tags for KSEV and the Examiner.
The Examiner Newspaper Group is owned by Houston Community
Newspapers. Houston Community Newspapers, a division of ASP Westward, LP,
publishes 33 weekly and 2 daily newspapers. ASP Westward, LP, also
publishes newspapers in East Texas and Colorado and is a privately held company
owned by American Security Capital Partners based in New York, NY.
